Even if you haven't been to the KiMo Theatre, chances are you'd recognize its extravagant, Southwestern-inspired exterior. Inside the theater lies some of the most diverse and unique entertainment in Albuquerque, with a full schedule of movies, theater, concerts, and more. Often times, the performances at KiMo Theatre are as timeless as the venue itself, and the building provides a classic atmosphere to view events that can't be found anywhere else in town.
The KiMo Theatre opened in 1927, with "KiMo" literally translated as "mountain lion" in Tewa. The building was well known for its fusion of pueblo and European designs in both the exterior and interior, most prominently the murals and art pieces in the lobby. The theater has had a varied history, but has scheduled both youth and community theater, films, dance recitals, famed musicians, and many more events since the late 70s. KiMo Theatre still retains its original aesthetic glory while staying technologically and functionally modern, combining old world style with new world comfort.
Check the KiMo Theatre's schedule often to avoid missing a rare, unique performance, and be sure to buy your tickets in advance.
