The cheetah is the world's fastest land animal, able to reach speeds of 68 miles per hour. This distinctive spotted cat is also Africa's most endangered feline. Cheetahs once lived throughout most of Africa, and their range spread through the Middle East and southern Asia. Today, they live in only 23 percent of their historic African range, and only a handful survive in the extended range.
As cheetahs race against extinction, join BioPark education and the Cheetah Conservation Fund to learn about these magnificent cats during International Cheetah Day.
Celebrate cheetahs at the Zoo and learn about their race for survival. Learn how you can help save international wildlife like cheetahs, as well as wildlife right here in New Mexico.
