      Wolf Awareness Day

Visit the Mexican gray wolf exhibit at the ABQ BioPark Zoo to learn about wolf conservation and re-introduction in the Southwest. Over the years, the zoo has successfully bred wolves that have been released into the wild.

Find out the crucial role these animals used to play in New Mexico's ecosystem and get hands-on with wolf biofacts.

Learn about Aldo Leopold, a conservation hero active here in New Mexico from 1900-1928, and find out why he said, "Only the mountain has lived long enough to listen objectively to the howl of a wolf."

Visitors who want to learn more about the BioPark’s wolf pack can speak to zoo keepers during scheduled talks. Visitors also will have the opportunity to study bones and explore the adaptations that make wolves agile, expert hunters.Stations

      • Wolf biology and behaviors – biofacts, information packets and activity handouts.
      • Aldo Leopold station – a conservation hero active here in New Mexico from 1900-1928, and find out why he said, "Only the mountain has lived long enough to listen objectively to the howl of a wolf."
